The notation plugin: capture learnings into memory
notation captures what you learn in a Claude Code session into the right memory tier - global CLAUDE.md, project notes, or per-project memory - so hard-won lessons persist instead of evaporating when the session ends. There’s no MCP or external service; it just writes to your notes.

What you can do
- /notation:notate - reads the session first, classifies its type, gauges how much there is to capture, and identifies which memory tiers were exercised, then proposes right-sized notes in a structured scorecard. You approve what gets written. Add
fullto force the complete flow. - /notation:notate-all - applies every proposal without the picker, for when you trust the suggestions.
- The notation-audit skill reviews and rebalances your existing notation - finding stale or orphaned notes and flagging bloat in
CLAUDE.md.
Good to know
- It writes to your local Claude memory files - review proposals before accepting if you’re particular about what lands where.
- It works best at the end of a meaty session, when there are real learnings to capture.
- Nothing leaves your machine; there’s no account or credential.
